Badminton is rising in popularity in Malaysia. Many people are inspired by the success of our very own badminton world champion Dato Lee Chong Wei. More and more students are picking up this game as their preferred choice of sports. Having said that, badminton is also a very technical game and hence proper coaching and guidance from experienced coaches are very important to advance your skills in your badminton journey.
It is therefore very important for badminton players especially the beginners to get the proper coaching. At LeePenang Badminton Training Centre, we provide coaching to beginners to start them on the right track so that they build on a good foundation to be a better player in the future.
Among the skills that we provide to beginner players are as follows:-
1. Correct grip of the badminton racquet
2. Footwork
3. Racquet Skills
4. Stamina Training
Among the things that we focus on are the fundamental aspects of the badminton techniques which includes the correct grip of the racquet. We feel that the correct grip is important and an improper grip will block the progress of the player. Once the player gets used to the wrong grip, it may be more difficult to change in the future. Hence, getting the correct grip at the beginning is a good practice.
We also put a great deal of focus on the footwork as well as to build the strength of the players’ feet. Proper footwork is important for speed and court coverage. Proper footwork allows the player to move from one point to another within the badminton court in a graceful and quick manner. While many people may feel that footwork is not important, it is actually a very important skill to master if you would like to really advance your badminton skills. Footwork is also one of the hardest skill to master in badminton. To be able to build a good footwork skills, you will need to learn the proper technique, practice it until it becomes natural in your moves. A professional badminton player with great footwork will be able to reach the shuttle earlier hence giving him or her many options to play the shuttle.
We also emphasize on good racquet skills so that beginner players are able to handle and control the shuttle as well as to place the shuttle at the right places within the badminton court. All these will require constant training and drilling so that the skill can be imparted to the students.
Stamina training is also important as you will need to move around the court a lot during the game. A beginner will likely not be moving so much around the badminton court but as your skill progresses and you are playing with an opponents that are better, there is quite a lot of running around the court that is required during the game and hence fitness level do play an important part in either winning or losing a game. There are various ways of building your fitness level like jogging, running, skipping ropes and drills that involved building your strength as well as your stamina.
At LeePenang Badminton Training Centre we take pride in giving the best form of coaching to the beginners so that they can pick up the game of badminton quickly. It is also important to make the lessons fun and exciting so that the students will enjoy the training.
