Badminton is rising in popularity in Malaysia. Many people are inspired by the success of our very own badminton world champion Dato Lee Chong Wei. More and more students are picking up this game as their preferred choice of sports. Having said that, badminton is also a very technical game and hence proper coaching and guidance from experienced coaches are very important to advance your skills in your badminton journey.
It is therefore very important for badminton players especially the beginners to get the proper coaching. At LeePenang Badminton Training Centre, we provide coaching to beginners to start them on the right track so that they build on a good foundation to be a better player in the future.
Among the skills that we provide to beginner players are as follows:-
1. Correct grip of the badminton racquet
3. Racquet Skills
4. Stamina Training
Among the things that we focus on are the fundamental aspects of the badminton techniques which includes the correct grip of the racquet. We feel that the correct grip is important and an improper grip will block the progress of the player. Once the player gets used to the wrong grip, it may be more difficult to change in the future. Hence, getting the correct grip at the beginning is a good practice.
We also put a great deal of focus on the footwork as well as to build the strength of the players’ feet. Proper footwork is important for speed and court coverage. Proper footwork allows the player to move from one point to another within the badminton court in a graceful and quick manner. While many people may feel that footwork is not important, it is actually a very important skill to master if you would like to really advance your badminton skills. Footwork is also one of the hardest skill to master in badminton. To be able to build a good footwork skills, you will need to learn the proper technique, practice it until it becomes natural in your moves. A professional badminton player with great footwork will be able to reach the shuttle earlier hence giving him or her many options to play the shuttle.
We also emphasize on good racquet skills so that beginner players are able to handle and control the shuttle as well as to place the shuttle at the right places within the badminton court. All these will require constant training and drilling so that the skill can be imparted to the students.
Stamina training is also important as you will need to move around the court a lot during the game. A beginner will likely not be moving so much around the badminton court but as your skill progresses and you are playing with an opponents that are better, there is quite a lot of running around the court that is required during the game and hence fitness level do play an important part in either winning or losing a game. There are various ways of building your fitness level like jogging, running, skipping ropes and drills that involved building your strength as well as your stamina.
At LeePenang Badminton Training Centre we take pride in giving the best form of coaching to the beginners so that they can pick up the game of badminton quickly. It is also important to make the lessons fun and exciting so that the students will enjoy the training.

Malaysia and World badminton champion Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Datin Wong Mew Choo is finally tying the knots after an 11 years of courtship. This can be classified as the wedding dinner reception of the year for Malaysia which saw many royalties and VVIPs turning up to grace the occasion.
Although it was raining, this did not damper the spirits of 1,500 VVIPs and guests who turned up in true style for the “wedding of the year” reception last night.
Among the roll of honour and dignitaries who attended the wedding were the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman.
The hall was red-carpeted and Western dinner was served.
The guests also included various dignitaries such as Cabinet ministers, local and international celebrities, and several notable athletes.
Guests began arriving from as early as 7 o’clock, and had spent the time taking photographs and admiring the white-themed decoration along the foyer of the hall.
The badminton couple will be hosting another dinner today, also at the convention centre, which will be attended by sports acquaintances and business associates.

Below are some of the pictures extracted from the facebook page of Lee Chong Wei Official Fans Club. National shuttler Daren Liew finally achieved the breakthrough he badly desired after putting up a stunning show to beat Viktor Axelsen to win the French Open in Paris on Sunday. He has beaten another Dane and 6th seed – Jan O Jorgensen in the semi-finals.
The 25-year-old Daren played with an attacking mindset and won 21-18, 21-17 in 42 minutes to bag his first- ever international title. This is indeed a great feat by another fellow Malaysian.
Daren, who recently achieved a career best ranking of No.24 in the world, beat several higher ranked players this week, including Japan’s Sho Sasaki, Hong Kong’s Hu Yun and another Dane – Jan O Jorgensen.
Congratulations to our new French Open Champion – Daren Liew. All the badminton fans in Malaysia will definitely be looking forward to see more of you in the future! Well done.
Two-time Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang finally held their wedding reception, two years after their marriage registration. The grand wedding was held at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. This is the same venue for badminton at the Olympics (yeah, the one where Lin Dan got his gold medal but Xie Xingfang cried for almost an hour after losing the gold medal match). Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei and Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat were also invited but both of them could not make it because the dinner coincided with the Japan Open. In his marriage vows, Lin Dan held his wife’s hands and took a deep breath before yelling “I do” as the guests applauded.
The below is the video of the wedding of Badminton Giant Lin Dan and Xie XingFang.
Congratulations to Lin Dan and Xie XingFang on their wedding and may they have a blissful and happy marriage forever.
In November, we will be witnessing another grand wedding from another badminton world champion, i.e. our very own Dato’ Lee Chong Wei and Wong Mew Choo. We will keep you posted on this wedding in our blog too.
